If you ( OSHO ) were in his place , what would be your answer ?
OSHO's answer :
"The most surprising thing is that nobody seems to be
surprised ! People take life for granted. Otherwise everything
is a mystery, everything is simply amazing. Its a miracle that
the seed becomes a tree, the sun rises in the morning and the
birds starts singing. Each moment you come across miracles
and still you dont look surprised. This is the greatest
surprising thing in life.
That is why children have a grace, a beauty, an innocence.
They are always living in wander. Everything brings awe.
Collecting pebbles on the seashore or seashells...watch the
children with what joy they are running , with what joy they
are collecting. Just colored stones, as if they have found great
diamonds.
Thanks to a good friend, i have been introduced to OSHO ...through his book "I AM THAT" which is one of the most controversial books ! When i started reading it, i was instantly sucked into the black hole till i came to the last chapter and was delivered back to the world as ONE NEW polished piece :):)
hahhaa...yeah, it radiates such an amazing power of words, written so beautifully that it just takes your breath away...who cares if its controversial , if we believe Jesus walks on water, if we believe Krishna lifts the mountains...then i think nothing else should be " controversial" anymore ! Its all about how we see it.

How beautiful are those words...how not to read his books !!? :)
Ive heard that Hindu mythology believes Swans are able to drink milk, discarding the water from it. I dont know if this is proven scientifically but then the message here is , we should be able to extract whats good/needed out of whats offered to us. Just like that, though this Book may contain some ideas that might be offensive to some, no one can deny that it also contains a WHOLE lot of beautiful and insightful messages and eye opening facts ! So, theres nothing wrong in reading it, especially if you truly know what you believe in and that nothing can shake your faith ! We cant be brainwashed merely by ONE book ! Can we ?? On the contrary it helps to see things in new light and enhances our knowledge.
There was only one problem as i was reading the book, i couldnt pick the best part to share as quotes because the whole book was ONE big QUOTE ! every page was mind blowing ! No way to say which is the best part !
I thought one thing was funny though.....that we human beings believe everything religion says no matter how absurd it might seem ....but then, cant accept someone saying that the world is for real and we are here to live , rejoice , experience , share the love for nature and humankind and also discover ourselves through meditation ! Whats so controversial about that ! Yes of course , he makes fun of religions but then, cant we have some sense of humour and just laugh it off and cont reading??
...why are we so serious !!? the world will go on with or without religion....no trees need it...no animals need it....no rivers , mountains, lakes, birds, bugs , flowers...clouds ...suns and stars need it......it has been going fine for like 14 billion years !! And why do we funny creatures cling on religion like we might fall of the cliff if we let go !! ??? why are we so sensitive !! quite strange ! dont you think ??
Another positive side is that, after reading this book , you will be even more curious about the ancient scriptures , to read them for yourself. I AM THAT is mainly based on facts of ISHA UPANISHAD. And though i have never read any of those scriptures in UPANISHAD , now i am so interested to learn from them !
And here i thought, probably Osho was using those controversial issues as a bait to capture the attention of those who had not been interested in finding the truth ! Anything said or done against the norm always gets more attention, doesnt it ? So, now that he caught peoples attention, he could easily share what he really wants to share which is all about the power of meditation !!!
The way he explains the effect of meditation would make anyone (religious or not ) interested to try it !! Believe me it sounds that amazing !
So, what if his target group was those who have gone astray from the center of our being...what if he thought the best way to allure them into meditative path was to meet them where they are...i mean its always harder to make people believe what they dont ! People will always be willing to hear what they want to hear ....right !?? so obviously those first ones to read his books will be those who either do not believe or are not too sure about God ! And once they have read it , they have a chance to know about the power of meditation ! I dont know if i make any sense...but i find it interesting ... :0)
Its also helpful to make one realize that RELIGION n SPIRITUALITY is completely two different things ....you dont have to be religious in order to be spiritual....and before we deny the existence of GOD...we first have to learn what exactly it is ! we cant deny something which we dont know...can we ? So i choose to keep learning before i come to any conclusions....i am determined to learn till i find the truth myself...and not from any books or beings...
So i guess, his controversial ways are leading to the right path eventually ! at least thats how i choose to see it !! :)
hmm..its so interesting we can go on talking about it forever ...but i guess its enough for now :)
